Ashley Michelle Hannah

Ashley Michelle Hannah’s self-portraits in a crib explore relationships between body, memory, and childhood.

The crib, which acts as both sacred shelter and jail, provides a jarring juxtaposition to her adult body, whose ghostly blur comments on the uncomfortable restraint of childhood trauma and memory.

Time Machine, 2019. Silver gelatin prints. 24x36 in. each (diptych).
